F.I.S.A.R. - delegation of Orvieto

The FISAR (Italian Federation of Sommelier Hotel-Keepers and Restaurateur), born in the ‘70s and with its national main office in Tuscany, has the aim to promote wine culture caring about the hedonistic aspect of good food and drink.

It organizes on the whole national territory short or detailed courses about wine and enogastronomy and publishes the official bi-monthly magazine "Il Sommelier", to bring all the members of the Federation always up to date.

For those who want to learn the wine and tasting techniques fundamentals, a short-course provides an introduction to the basic aspects of sensory evaluation. It includes five lessons and costs about 120-150 euros.

There is also the possibility to attend a more exhaustive course, to attain a higher competence and a Professional Qualification. The study programme includes three levels. The prices range from a minimum of 400 to a maximum of 500 euros, depending on the different Delegations.
Professional Qualification is attained at the end of the third level, after passing an examination with a national board of examiners.

Since 2008 the Fisar has promoted a campaign for the Culture of Drinking for the Respect of Life, to point out that is always necessary to keep self-control, because good drinking means also good living, without risks for yourself and other people.
