Fabro
The modern, the old, the truffle
The municipal territory has two historical centers: Fabro and Carnaiola. Driving north along the A1 highway in the stretch Rome-Florence, the former rises up on the height on the left, and the second on the hill to the right.
The hamlet is dominated by the castle which presumably dates to around the 11th century and is characterized by its imposing structure, with a round tower facing north, fortification walls and walkways from which to admire the splendid panorama of the Chiani valley below.
The castle is surrounded by lanes and old buildings clearly in the style of the times.
CARNAIOLA
The small hamlet of Carnaiola grew up around the year thousand on the ruins of the ancient Roman fortifications, and was built to keep guard over the bridge of the "Muro grosso", an important ford across the Chiani River, also studied by Leonardo da Vinci.
White truffles
Fabro is famous for its truffles, the Tuber Magnum Pico better known as white truffle. Thousands of visitors come every year to sample this famous tuber at the "Mostra Mercato Nazionale del Tartufo" or truffle fair which takes place the second weekend in November.

THE MUSICAL BAND
The first musical band was founded in 1850. Around 1970 a new group, the "Anni Verdi" band, was formed thanks to the enthusiasm of Norberto Maurizi, the president of the pro-loco, and of the conductor Dino Dini. The band was applauded in Liege in Belgium, on the occasion of an important international band meet. In the 1990s the participation of many young people turned it into a tradition that is now an integral part of the culture of Fabro.
